Our philosophy is quite simple. Life is too short to soak in an ugly, shallow, plastic bathtub.
Ofuros are part of the Japanese ritual of bathing. The Japanese believe that taking a bath prevents a person from getting seven illnesses and brings seven reasons for happiness.
We couldn't agree more.
Traditional Japanese Ofuros are made of untreated wood, often Hinoki, which is a Japanese Cypress. While an untreated tub looks great and smells wonderful, it is somewhat fragile and requires some delicate care.
At Driftwood Tubs, we strive to bring the happiness of deep bathing to America. Some of our tubs are based on Japanese ofuros and some are based on traditional American bathtubs. The tubs look fantastic in their natural state. But then, borrowing some techniques from the sailing community, we take the extra step to coat our bathtubs with a clear fiberglass. Just like a sailboat resists the harshest conditions of the ocean, your bathtub will resist whatever soap and cleaning chemicals you can throw at it.
Our goal is to provide a relaxing, worry-free place for our customers to soak their daily cares away.
